NAMES OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
MY
SHEPHERD
February 1 Psalm 23:1-6 The Lord is my
shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green
pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I
will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff,
they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence
of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
THE
KING OF GLORY
February 2 Psalm 24:7-10 Lift up your heads, O
you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of
glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong
and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O
you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of
glory may come in. Who is He, this King of glory? The Lord
Almighty—He is the King of glory.
THE
LORD STRONG AND MIGHTY
February 3 Psalm 24:7-10 Lift up your heads, O you
gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory
may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong
and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads,
O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of
glory may come in. Who is He, this King of glory?
The Lord Almighty—He is the King of glory.
THE
LORD MIGHTY IN BATTLE
February 4 Psalm 24:7-10 Lift up your heads, O you
gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory
may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong
and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads,
O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of
glory may come in. Who is He, this King of glory?
The Lord Almighty—He is the King of glory.
THE
STRONGHOLD OF MY LIFE
February 5 Psalm 27:1-3 The Lord is my light and my
salvation--whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold
of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? When evil men
advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my
foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. Though an army
besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against
me, even then will I be confident.
LORD, THE GOD OF TRUTH
February 6 Psalm 31:1-8 In you, O Lord, I have taken
refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your
righteousness. Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my
rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me.
Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name
lead and guide me. Free me from the trap that is set for
me, for you are my refuge. Into your hands I commit my
spirit; redeem me from the trap that is set before me, for you
are my refuge. Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem
me, O Lord, the God of truth. I hate those to cling to
worthless idols, I trust in the Lord. I will be glad and
rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction and knew the
anguish of my soul. You have not handed me over to the
enemy but have set my feet in a spacious place.
MY
HIDING PLACE
February 7 Psalm 32:6-7 Therefore let everyone who is
godly pray to you while you may be found; surely when the mighty
waters rise, they will not reach him. You are my hiding
place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with
songs of deliverance.
MY
HELP AND MY DELIVERER
February 8 Psalm 40:17 Yet I am poor and needy; may the
Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer; O my God, do
not delay.
THE
LIVING GOD
February 9 Psalm 42:1-2 As the deer pants for streams
of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts
for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with
God?
THE
GOD OF MY LIFE
February 10 Psalm 42:8-11 By day the Lord directs His
love, at night His song is with me—a prayer to the God of my
life. I say to God my Rock, “Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?” My
bones suffer mortal agony, as my foes taunt me, saying to me all
day long, “Where is your God?” Why are you downcast, O my
soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in
God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.
GOD
MY STRONGHOLD
February 11 Psalm 43:1-4 Vindicate me, O God, and plead
my cause against an ungodly nation; rescue me from deceitful and
wicked men. You are God my stronghold. Why have you
rejected me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the
enemy? Send forth your light and your truth, let them
guide me; let them bring me to your holy mountains, to the place
where you dwell. Then will I go to the altar of God, to
God, my love and my delight. I will praise you with the
harp, O God, my God.
THE
MOST EXCELLENT OF MEN
February 12 Psalm 45:1-2 My heart is stirred by a noble
theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen
of a skillful writer. You are the most excellent of men
and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has
blessed you forever.
AN
EVER-PRESENT HELP IN TROUBLE
February 13 Psalm 46:1-3 God is our refuge and
strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we
will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall
into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and
the mountains quake with their surging.
THE
LORD MOST HIGH
February 14 Psalm 47:1-2 Clap your hands, all you
nations; shout to God with cries of joy. How awesome is
the Lord Most High, the great King over all the earth! He
subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet. He chose
our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom He loved.
God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the Lord amid the sounding
of trumpets. Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing
praises to our King, sing praises.
THE
GREAT KING OVER ALL THE EARTH
February 15 Psalm 47:1-2 Clap your hands, all you
nations; shout to God with cries of joy.
Since praises to God, sing praises; sing
praises to our King, sing praises.
OUR
GOD FOR EVER AND EVER
February 16 Psalm 48:10-14 Like your name, O God, your
praise reaches to the ends of the earth; your right hand is
filled with righteousness. Mount Zion rejoices, the
villages of Judah are glad because of your judgments. Walk
about Zion, go around her, count her towers, consider well her
ramparts, view her citadels, that you may tell of them to the
next generation. For this God is our God for ever and
ever; He will be our guide even to the end.
OUR
GUIDE EVEN TO THE END
February 17 Psalm 48:10-14 Like your name, O God, your
praise reaches to the ends of the earth; your right hand is
filled with righteousness.
THE
ROCK THAT IS HIGHER THAN I
February 18 Psalm 61:1-5 Hear my cry, O God; listen to
my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to you, I
call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher
than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower
against the foe. For I long to dwell in your tent forever
and take refuge in the shelter of your wings. For you have
heard my vows, O God; you have given me the heritage of those
who fear your name.
A
STRONG TOWER AGAINST THE FOE
February 19 Psalm 61:1-5 Hear my cry, O God; listen to
A
STRANGER AND AN ALIEN
February 20 Psalm 69:7-9 For I endure scorn for your
sake, and shame covers my face. I am a stranger to my
brothers, an alien to my own mother’s son; for zeal for your
house consumes me, and the insults of those who insult you fall
on me.
RAIN
FALLING ON A MOWN FIELD
February 21 Psalm 72:1-7 Endow the king with your
justice, O God, the royal son with your righteousness. He
will judge your people in righteousness, your afflicted ones
with justice. The mountains will bring prosperity to the
people, the hills the fruit of righteousness. He will
defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of
the needy; He will crush the oppressor. He will endure as
long as the sun, as long as the moon, through all generations.
He will be like rain falling on a mown field, like showers
watering the earth. In His days the righteous will
flourish; prosperity will abound till the moon is no more.
OUR
SHIELD
February 22 Psalm 84:8-9 Hear my prayer, O Lord God
Almighty; listen to me, O God of Jacob. Look upon our
shield, O God; look with favor on your anointed one.
YOUR
(GOD’S) ANOINTED ONE
February 23 Psalm 84:8-9 Hear my prayer, O Lord God
Almighty; listen to me, O God of Jacob. Look upon our
shield, O God; look with favor on your anointed one.
THE
HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL
February 24 Psalm 89:14-18 Righteousness and justice
are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go
before you. Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim
you, who walk in the light of your presence, O Lord. They
rejoice in your name all day long; they exult in your
righteousness. For you are their glory and strength, and
by your favor you exalt our horn. Indeed, our shield
belongs to the Lord, our king to the Holy One of Israel.
OUR
DWELLING PLACE
February 25 Psalm 90:1-2 Lord, you have been our
dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the
mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the
world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
THE
ROCK IN WHOM I TAKE REFUGE
February 26 Psalm 94:20-23 Can a corrupt throne be
allied with you—one that brings on misery by its decrees?
They band together against the righteous and condemn the
innocent to death. But the Lord has become my fortress,
and my God the rock in whom I take refuge. He will repay
them for their sins and destroy them for their wickedness; the
Lord our God will destroy them.
THE
ROCK OF OUR SALVATION
February 27 Psalm 95:1-7a Come, let us sing for joy to
the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with
music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the Great
King above all gods. In His hand are the depths of the
earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. The sea is
His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land. Come,
let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our
Maker, for He is our God and we are the people of His pasture,
the flock under His care.
THE
LORD OF ALL THE EARTH
February 28 Psalm 97:4-7, 9 His (the Lord’s) lightning
lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles. The
mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all
the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness, and all
the peoples see His glory. All who worship images are put
to shame, those who boast in idols—worship Him, all you gods.
For you, O Lord, are the Most High over all the earth; you are
exalted far above all gods.
